Competition Detail
New Jersey Sinfonietta(NJS) proudly presents 2019 International Vocal Competition. The competition
aims to identify promising new talent and provide them with an opportunity to perform with NJS at the
Merkin Concert Hall in New York City.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
April 10, 2019
Late Application: by April 20, 2019
ELIGIBILITY
Age Limit: 30
Applicants must have the date of birth after May 5, 1988.
Performers of all nationalities are welcome to apply.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Online application and video recordings submission (YouTube link or other video sharing sites)
Non-refundable application fee of $50
Late application fee of $75 for applying after April 10, 2019
REPERTOIRE FOR VIDEO RECORDING SUBMISSION
Two arias of contrasting styles from all operas and oratorios composed before 1940 (no art
songs)
The audition repertoire could be any language but all singers must sing in the original language
of the composition.
HOW TO APPLY
Upload the video recordings of your repertoire to YouTube or other video sharing site and
submit the online application form (including the link to your videos) with the application fee.
Application fee will be accepted only by PayPal or credit cards. The payment site will be followed by the submission of online application.
An accompaniment is optional in video submission. A video of a live performance with piano or
orchestra is also acceptable.
The video should be 15 minutes or shorter in duration.
Video and Audio quality must be of the highest standard.
Applicants will receive an email acknowledgement within one week after submission. Notification
of final live round will be posted on our website by April 25, 2019.
LIVE AUDITION
Sunday, May 5, 2019 at The National Opera Center in New York City
Live auditions are by invitation only after review of your video submission.
Ten vocalists will be invited to compete in our final round, performing their repertoire with
piano accompaniment.
The contestants who cannot participate in the live audition on May 5, 2019 can choose to
compete via video recording only.
The finalists must provide their own accompanists.
The music at the final round must be the same as the video submission.
A warm up room will be assinged to each contestant for 10 minutes.
Performances before the judges must be 10 minutes or shorter in duration.
The finalists are responsible for all of their travel expenses including transportation, lodging, etc.
All singers will be notified the results of the final round by Monday, May 13, 2019.

All jury's decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
AWARD
First and second prize winners will be offered to perform with New Jersey Sinfonietta at the
Annual Young Soloists’ Concert at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City on August 29, 2019.
First Prize Winner: $300 Cash Prize and Certificate
Second Prize Winner: $200 Cash Prize and Certificate
Third Prize Winner: $100 Cash Prize and Certificate
Honorable Mentions: Certificates
All winners will receive the cash prizes via PayPal and or certificates via mail.
The concert will be recorded by a professional recording engineer
to ensure high quality video file with superior audio sound.
The recordings will be posted on YouTube and other social network.
This will be an excellent opportunity to build up the career in New York.
Winners who cannot perform at the concert on August 29, 2019 for any reason will be
disqualified, and the alternates selected by the juries will perform in the winners’ place.
First and second prize winners should discuss their repertoires with NJS prior to the concert on
August 29, 2019.
